Today’s
session was a detailed introduction given to about the module by the lecturer.
During the session she covered the following areas;
- · Aim of the module
- · Methods of assessing the module
- · How the module will be useful, specially the final year project proposal
- · Topics that will be covered during the module
According
to the lecturer’s introduction, the student understood that the aim of this
module is to enhance the professional skills of the students so as to give a
boost to the future careers. The module aims in building special skills such as
time management, making a CV, facing interviews etc. as well as focuses on
building skills such as report writing, research methods, project management
etc. which would be a useful guide for academic as well as career purposes.
Assessing
of this module is done through 2 individual assessment components;
- 1. Portfolio blog (50%) - a reflective portfolio which consists of the student’s analysis of the topics covered and the activities performed during each session.
- 2. Project Proposal (50%) – a complete project proposal for a project selected by the student
This
module is a stepping stone for many future endeavors of the student. It will be
greatly helpful in successfully completing the Final Year Project of the
student, with the beginning of submitting a good project proposal for this
module. With the areas covered in the syllabus, a student will get a good
knowledge on the various aspects that should be tackled in the FYP. Apart from
the FYP, it will also help when engaging in real time projects in the industry
after choosing a career path.
This
module will also help in achieving guidance when stepping in to the industrial
world towards the prospective careers as it will teach students on areas such
as facing interviews, writing CVs etc. which are vital to be successful
professional.
In
conclusion the student believes that this is a module with great importance and
is determined to perform and excel to the maximum of her ability as well as to
obtain maximum knowledge so that it can be applied in the real world.
